Annual Gathering 2016
Every time a woman is hurt on the street, it’s intimately connected to who you are as a woman. Marai Larasi.
Another year, another Annual Gathering come and gone. The 2016 members Annual Gathering was held at Wallacespace Spitalfields on 9 November and was the perfect event to nurse a US election hangover.
Every year The Circle Annual Gathering is the time when our old and new members, founders, individual Circle committees, staff and volunteers come together to discuss what we have achieved and the challenges ahead. It also gives us a chance to thank our members for their support in person and over a glass of wine.
The Circle CEO Sioned Jones gave everyone an update about our work, which was followed by a panel with new guest speakers: Katja Iversen, President/CEO of Women Deliver, Marai Larasi, Executive Director of Imkaan, Sarah Green, Co-Director the End Violence Against Women Coalition, and Santosh Bhanot, founder of The Asian Circle.
The Asian Circle announced its second Chai Day, which will be officially launched on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, on 25th November. The night ended with chai tea and cake, wine and a raffle with some incredible prizes donated by our ambassadors.
Without our members The Circle would not exist as it does today. Their membership makes a difference, and this event gives us a chance to thank them for their support, show them exactly what difference we have made together and enable them to connect with like-minded women.
